Skyler participated in her very first Walk-A-Thon at her school, Highland Grove Elementary last Friday. Thank you to a few family members and many, many of my Kiwanis Brothers & Sisters, she secured the most pledges for her class and earned a limo ride and free luncheon!
All students were given 30 minutes to walk as many laps as possible. Each lap totaled 200 yards and if you added in the constant walk up the slight hill for a water break, the Princess completed almost 2 miles!
I volunteered during her class walk, so I captured some cute pictures to share. Each student partnered up with another classmate to walk to the PE field. Skyler chose little Ellie.
The two PreK classes walked with the second grade classes. Here they all are receiving instructions before the event.
Super excited Skyler....
Each child was given a card to present to the "Spotters". After completing a lap, the adults would mark off each lap.
Skyler RAN the first three laps!!! She took off like a rabbit and never looked back! And yes, she was the only girl sporting a dress......go figure, that's our Princess!
Gatorade break...
It sure was a hot day!
Once the 30 minutes were up, the students posed proudly for pictures. Skyler and Reese below...
Some students from her class, except for the girl in the red shirt. Most of the children are five or are turning five shortly. Sky and Reese are the youngest in their class.

The money raised for all her efforts will support the purchase of school supplies, student incentives, physical education equipment and technology. Not only was it a great school fund raiser, but it also helped promote health and wellness!
We are so proud of the Princess and all her classmates. Daddy and I were given permission from Mrs. Fitzsimmons to sponsor a pizza party this Friday. Rumor has it that Skyler might be the top winner out of the entire school for most money pledged. She raised $638.50!! Thank you again to my dear family and amazing Kiwanians!
