An apple a day....

...........keeps the Doctor away!

Tom and I have been blessed to say that Skyler has never been sick.....no colds, runny nose, ear infections or even a simple diaper rash! This past Tuesday, our sweetie got to spend the day with her Glammey. They always enjoy lunch together and this time, Skyler was determined to eat Glammey's apple without having it cut into tiny pieces.

Her teeth got to work quickly and her nibbles rewarded her with a few tasty pieces!

I think that shot of Vitamin C renewed her energy because she started running all over the house with excitement! Her emotional development is amazing and Skyler shows a range of new feelings such as self confidence and pride. Can't ya tell?

Beach Babe!

This past weekend, we loaded up the car and headed to Merritt Island to spend the weekend with Auntie Kevie & Uncle Larry. Our first adventure included a day at the beach. It was Skyler's very first time exploring the Atlantic Ocean and she had an amazing time. Her little feet loved the sand and she certainly enjoyed the waves. Once we put her down to roam, she quickly found her way to the water!

One of Skyler's favorite things to do at the beach was to sit on the shore line and have the waves wash over her legs. She couldn't stop giggling!

Daddy bought Skyler her very first beach bucket & shovel. She enjoyed feeling the texture of the wet sand and within minutes, her taste buds took over and in her mouth the sand went.....twice! perhaps making mud pies with Daddy got her a bit hungry.

After playing in the sand, it was time to venture into the waves. This was definitely a fun game with Skyler. As you can see by her face, she is fearless and had a blast each time Tom threw her in the air.

Since she enjoyed the waves so much, Uncle Larry took her boogie boarding. She enjoyed riding the waves and even changed positions. Our little one has great balance. I'm sure within time, her cousin's Jared & Jodi will have her standing tall on that hydrodynamic foam catching the next wave!

Skyler didn't take many breaks, but I did capture her strolling the beach with her sippy cup filled with cold, refreshing water! I thought these pictures were too cute not to share. We had such a great time and we will make another trip back to the beach super soon!

Once we got back to the Clark's beautiful home, we changed clothes and relaxed watching the World Cup Soccer. Little Miss Skyler took a brief nap & enjoyed the evening with her family. She was having so much fun that I was able to sneak the matching hair ribbon without her fussing. Her blond curls are really starting to grow. Isn't her dress from Cousin Nikki adorable?

Come Sunday morning, Auntie Kevie cooked us all home made waffles. Skyler then had Auntie Kevie reading her books. We all went shopping in the afternoon and Auntie Kevie bought her a corn popping push toy. It's been around since 1957, but boy has it changed. The plastic colored balls light up in the dome and it plays music when you push it.

It was pool time after coming home from shopping. Skyler just loves water, so it definitely proved to be another fun afternoon! She got to use her inflatable pool float that her Uncle Larry & Auntie Kevie bought her for her 1st birthday. Talk about relaxing in the sun! It even has a UV canopy for shade. She just looked like a little Princess floating around the pool. Daddy has been taking Skyler for swim lessons during the week, but she got extra practice this past Sunday! Even our Westie dog, Laney, joined in on the fun.

I've mentioned in the past that Skyler has an incredible appetite and enjoys a variety of food. We took a break from swimming and feasted on shrimp, cheese and grapes, before eating baked tilapia and home made mac-n-cheese for dinner. Uncle Larry's Mum, Granlee, came over to enjoy the sunny day with us.

By 6PM, it was time to head back to Lakeland. We drove home with a collection of wonderful memories, lovely tans and deeply satisfied appetites. As you can see in the picture below, exhaustion finally kicked in for our sweetie as we said our goodbyes. A great weekend indeed!
