Total Score~Look Who's 4!

I'm not sure how it happened this quickly, but one of my favorite people in the entire world turns four today, 7:01PM to be exact. Yes, today we celebrate Skyler Leona and her four glorious years!

We will start off the morning with crown pancakes fit for a Princess and continue the celebration after school and throughout the evening. Her Princess Party is all set for this Saturday with 14 of her darling friends.

Skyler has given us such vivid colors in our life. Miss Precious has such a beautiful spirit, outgoing personality and a tender heart. How blessed indeed we are to be her proud parents....Then & Now!
Happy Birthday, Sweet Daughter! Our forever Baby Girl.
We love you,
Mummy & Daddy

Memorable Memorial Day

We had a packed weekend, starting with a Saturday Pirate party and then a fun Sunday morning at church. I've been blessed to teach Children's Church and my sweet "disciple students" have been learning a lot about Peter, Jesus' faithful friend and loving disciple. Due to the holiday weekend, our class size shrunk from ten to six. After an exciting hour, we headed home from church, packed the car, grabbed Laney and set off for a two day get-a-way to Madeira Beach.
My class....

We stayed at Gammey's Condo while she was vacationing in San Francisco. It was a perfect beach day! Plenty of sunshine with a great breeze and only a five minute drive back "home".
Skyler has always been a beach lover and nothing has changed since her last visit, except she's gotten longer legs and pony tail! lol

Although it was a short escape, it was packed with total enjoyment. Great beach, beautiful condo, delicious restaurants, fantastic waether all spent with a loving family! We are certainly blessed to live in a free country. I explained to Skyler the importance of Memorial Day and the men and women who died while serving in the United Sates Armed Forces. May their sacrifices never be forgotten.

Evan's Pirate Party

We spent this past Saturday celebrating Evan's 4th birthday at Banana Lake Park. Evan is Skyler's classmate and the party was a full pirate affair that included face painting, play swords, treasures and plenty of outdoor playground equipment!
 Evan, the Pirate birthday boy...
Once we arrived, Sky received a sword and a treasure chest to fill with pirate goodies. She had fun picking out her own special loot then coloring her chest.

The weather was absolutely beautiful and such a perfect day to be outdoors. The kids played on all the park equipment, a favorite for the Princess, I mean Pirate! lol

Skyler is still fearless and never hesitated while climbing the rope to reach the very top. Believe it or not, but she had no difficulties getting down.

Her school friend, Lillianna, attended so the two girls palled around and sat together for lunch and cake.

Evan had a great addition to his party....A snow cone truck came by! Each child was treated to their own flavor of shaved ice. It was a perfectly delicious break after playing in the hot sun. Sky enjoyed a mixed tropical flavor of strawberry and banana with her friends Chris and Lilliana.

Skyler decided to take part in face painting and enjoyed every minute of it.

 From Princess to Pirate....
 Skyler and Evan....

Skyler had such a fabulous time and we were one of Evan's last friends to leave. She was excited to tell Daddy all about her wonderful Pirate day. Friends sure make life sweeter!

The Rookie

Skyler participates in the Rookie Sports program (ages 3-5) at our local YMCA every Thursday night. Each month the sport changes and Basketball was the sport for the month of May.
Rookie Sport "Basketball" emphasizes basketball skill development. The kids learn shooting and defensive  skills, focusing on coordination and confidence. After the month's session ends, we all enjoy a family day celebration. The kids received a medal for their dedication and participation. Sky was proud her her new medallion.

June's host sport will be flag football. A big favorite in the Short Household and I'm certain Skyler will love all the running that will be involved! Also, these monthly sports will help accent teamwork, sportsmanship and fun play. After Sky received her basketball medal, we headed to the pool to cool off and enjoy an hour of swimming.
Sky loves staying active and keeps us busy. From swimming, to gymnastics, to Kiwanis to Cubbies and now Rookie sports at the Y, we sure stay in constant motion!
