Elf On The Shelf

Ever wonder how Santa really knows who's been Naughty or Nice? Well, after much urging by Mrs. Claus and the Elves, Santa's biggest secret has been revealed in The Elf On The Shelf! We adopted this new Christmas tradition on the evening of November 28th. The kit includes a book and a pixie scout elf doll.
Skyler's Elf serves as Santa's eyes and ears, traveling back to the North Pole each and every night (while she is sleeping) to make a detailed report of her daily activities. One week ago, Sky met her Elf and after reading the book before bedtime, she had the honor of naming him. Our new Elf Owner chose, "Oh-Ko"
We explained all the rules to Skyler.....No touching Oh-Ko or he will loose his magical powers. He can listen to you talk, but can NOT talk back. That's Santa's law! And lastly, when he flies back to the North Pole, each and every night, to tell Santa what he has seen, he returns to a new spot in the house.
Here's Skyler giving Oh-Ko a detailed report about her day and also her Christmas wishes before going to bed.
This child was so excited to get out of bed and immediately start searching for her Elf. She found him relaxing on top of my metal art work with a pink fork in his hand. She screamed, "Oh-Ko just finished breakfast!"

These next few pictures just show how personable our sweet Princess is. She asked me for some baby pictures, so she could show her Elf what she looked like a few years ago.

To say we are having a blast with Oh-Ko is an understatement! Each morning is like a treasure hunt and I've taken pictures to document his travels through out our home.
Beginning with Morning #1....
Morning #2....Look who got into the goldfish!
Morning #3....Getting ready to do Saturday chores!

Morning #4....Waiting for a healthy breakfast.
Morning #5....Flying around & then waiting by the A/C vent.
Morning #6....Driving the School Bus.
And ending Morning #7 with a "bubble" marshmallow bath!
Tradition states that the Elf only visits around the Thanksgiving Holiday and stays until Christmas Eve. He will  then get put away for the next eleven months. BUT for the next THREE weeks, I will give you all weekly  updates of Oh-Ko's mornings at the Short Household.
