Since the beginning of October, Skyler has been attending swim lessons at our local YMCA each Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. She is learning with the 3-5 year old class, since the instructor considers her 'advanced'. Daddy usually takes Sky, but because of a parent/teacher open house, I had the pleasure of going tonight. As we were driving to the Y, the Princess kept repeating the phrase, "Gonna see Ava & Bart at swimming". It didn't take me long to figure out that these were her new swim mates. Quite a memory, indeed!
We arrived 5 minutes early and waited at the smaller pool for the instructor. Skyler was eager to get started!
Once Miss Jenna arrived, she took Skyler & Bart down the pool steps and then held each child as she swam to the other end of the pool. I was allowed to watch, from a distance and enjoyed every minute of her progress!
I apologize for my pictures being a bit grainy, but because of the distance between us, I had to capture from a far. Little Ava showed up just in time for the first lesson that involved an orange foam board used to help balance the toddlers as they kicked and blew bubbles.
I just love this picture. Skyler is trying to demonstrate to Bart on how to hold onto the foam, while Ava is laughing.
Lesson #2 involved strokes. Miss Jenna placed a rubber floatie around Sky's waist and helped her with the free-style stroke motion.
Oops, I think I was just spotted......lol!
Lesson #3......Kicking on their back
then some floating.....
After the 45 minutes session was completed, the children swam back to the other side of the pool and mingled.
What a fun Tuesday evening. Skyler showed no hesitation. She related well with the instructor and listened to her directions. Making friends with the two other tots became an added bonus!
