Last week, Skyler got to chose a book to bring home so we could read it daily while answering a series of questions. What a great homework assignment. Books are a shared interest for us! The Princess picked, "I Took My Frog To The Library" by Eric A. Kimmel.
In this book, Bridgett's animals, ranging from a frog to an elephant, accompany her when visiting the library. Naturally, turmoil ensures. Repetition is used throughout, and the story introduces numerous animal names with tough spelling, such as hyena and elephant. In the end, the animals are required to stay home and the elephant reads to them all. Cute story and engaging! Can't you just see the excitement....
By the end of the week, Skyler had to pick out her favorite part of the story and illustrate it. She loved the frog jumping on the librarian's desk. Don't you just love all the details, especially the green frog sitting on the desk? She even drew a brown chair for the librarian. I like how she designed four shelves and filled it with colorful squares, aka books!
This morning, Skyler got to share the story and her drawing with her PreK classmates. Before leaving for school, Sky wanted to know if she could share the story of Noah's Ark and God's promise. I told her she could always ask her teacher. I love how she is learning, not only in school but in children's church/home
