Easter is the springtime holiday marking the rebirth of Jesus and the renewal of the Christian faith. It's also a magical time for children to enjoy chocolate bunnies, marshmallow chicks and jellybean-filled eggs. Skyler's festivities began one week prior to celebrating the life, death and resurrection of our Saviour.
On March 31st, Gammey, Skyler and I spent the day at her school, enjoying a full day of crafts, music, egg hunt and an outdoor picnic. This free event was offered to the Lakeland community. We arrived and quickly found a table so Sky could dive into the Easter crafts with her Gammey.
After craft time, the leaders grouped the children into age categories for the egg hunt. Skyler was in the 2-3 year old group and was anxious for the doors to the egg hunt to open. Our Princess never skipped a beat. She looked quite the pro picking up the plastic eggs and filling her personalized bunny basket. When her basket became full, she helped the other children by placing eggs in their baskets. Too sweet!
We all grew up singing, "Here comes Peter Cottontail, hoppin' down the bunny trail" and Sky is no different as she knows this song word for word. She seemed excited to actually meet the Easter Bunny (first time), so after the egg hunt we walked over to his special room and I certainly had my camera ready. It was nothing like her reaction for Santa......They say pictures speak a thousand words, so............
Skyler & the Easter Bunny, or I should say a very unhappy Skyler!
After a soothing chat, Skyler did manage to blow Mr. Easter Bunny a kiss goodbye, but was quite happy to get off his lap and get ready for lunch on the church lawn.
We returned to our table and watched a magic show then headed outside and found a spot on the lawn for the provided lunch of hot dogs, cookies, chips and a drink!
After lunch Skyler saw her dear friend Clayton and turned into a world class sprinter to catch up with him to play. Very happy indeed and no Easter Bunny in sight! lol...
The two tots play together so well and actually see each other in school. Although they're in different classes, they always get together during recess and just become inseparable.
We had a wonderful day. The weather was perfect for the outdoor picnic and Sky was overjoyed to share it with her Gammey. I do have two more Easter posts to share, so be sure to "hippty-hop" back for another visit to her blog super soon!
