New Year = New, Exciting Changes!

Within two days of the start of the 2012 year, we received a call from First Steps Preschool informing us that an opening had finally become available for Skyler to attend Pre K. She had been on the waiting list for almost five months, but our prayers were answered on January 2nd! Our sweet little toddler began the highest quality of age appropriate care and education available. As parents, we felt this highly popular and top demand school, was the perfect choice. Sky attends daily from 9AM-Noon. Smashing for the both of us!

The school is affiliated and located on the property where we make our annual Pumpkin purchase. It's also on the same lake of our church, just a few blocks north. The above picture is the actual entrance way to Skyler's class.

Her first day was amazing. No tears, just a big hug goodbye and an eager heart to make new friends. And boy has she made friends! She's already been invited to two upcoming birthday parties and the entire staff just loves her personality and happy attitude. There are a total of twelve children and two teachers, Ms. Alisha and Ms. Tina.

Ms. Alica and her "tots".

The school has a consistent schedule that includes outdoor play, art, music, Chapel, circle time and a wide range of activities. There goal is to offer Skyler the opportunity to utilize skills that she will require, not only within the world of academia; but throughout a lifetime.

Although it looks like play, Skyler is experiencing God's love through His Holy Word and caring teachers. She is sharing quite well and is also experiencing and exhibiting reading readiness skills and is exploring math concepts. It's been over three months since she began attending this fantastic school. Our refrigerator is overflowing with her amazing art work, but I wanted to share my favorite six. 2 for each month! Picasso Jr./"Mini" Auntie Nicola in the works.....

Above & below is art using her hand and finger prints

These next three designs illustrate her way of coloring. We like to call it "Quadrant Coloring". Notice how she groups her colors in sections? Ms. Alica tells me that Skyler likes to keep her work area organized and very clean. Perhaps this an example of a sharp, orgainzed mind? lol..

"Winter Mitten"

"Flying Kite"

"The Beaver Puppet"

Tom and I love the fact that the Princess is interacting with other children and adults. Skyler has always enjoyed people and has had a developed vocabulary for her age, but we already see her growing and maturing in all areas of development: cognitively, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. What's even more special, is she really loves being apart of First Steps!
